Sam Butler

Samuel “Salmon-lover” Butler is a Voice Actor based in Oregon, known in some circles for his wit, willingness to learn, and for being an otter.

As a member of the mustelidae family, Sam has spent most of his life on the water - a difficult environment to foster a career that often requires electricity! Despite the difficulties in finding a power source, keeping his equipment dry, and excusing himself from floating on his back (holding the paw of a loved one during a much needed nap), Sam uses his abilities to bring excitement and nuance to his performances.

Did you know that improvisation is important in otter communities? It certainly is! Whether those pesky fish and mollusks just aren’t surrendering, or some larger predator is angling for a quick bite, otters are constantly improvising and adapting for whatever nature throws at them. Sam took this a step further, and joined the improv team at a nearby human college. He’s having a lot of fun learning new skills with his less buoyant friends. Sam has even been know to sometimes let them hold his favorite rock. (But obviously, they have to give it back.)

When he isn’t being adorable, playing along the banks of the Columbia River with his otter friends and family, Sam is the voice of Stevie for the podcast, Peculiar Radio.
